I love barbecue and was excited when everyone told me to come here but left disappointed. I got the mixed plate with the three meats. Chicken thighs was not good, very dry, avoid. Sliced beef brisket was in the dry side as well, but I approached the smokiness of it. Extreme mid. Pork ribs were solid, I would stick with those. The best thing was the mashed sweet potatoes, flavors were very very good and rich. Highly recommend, I would just eat that next time.

Detroit's Corktown neighborhood has had a lot written about its comeback over the past decade, and Slows Bar BQ has been one of the restaurants people point to as evidence that the revival is real. It opened in 2005 in a brick building on Michigan Avenue near the old train station, and it's been packed more or less consistently ever since. The exterior is covered in 400 different-sized funnels as part of a public art installation by the owner, which catches you off guard before you even walk in and sets the tone for a place that takes some things very seriously and keeps others deliberately relaxed. The brisket is the first thing anyone recommends and the first thing I'd recommend too. It's slow-smoked and tender with a smoke ring that runs deep, and the fat cap melts in a way that makes you slow down. We also had the Charlene, which is their pulled pork sandwich, doused in a sauce made from the pork drippings, piled on a soft bun with coleslaw and pickled jalapenos, and it's the kind of sandwich you have to hold with both hands and then eat quickly before it falls apart on you. Here’s a cleaned-up version that keeps your opinions and style intact: I saw the reviews, so I decided to check this place out. It is definitely a clean restaurant with a nice atmosphere. They have good-sized booths to sit in and six different sauces to choose from. I’m going to start with the best thing on the menu: the enchiladas. They were unbelievable and next level. Make sure you ask for sour cream on the side. It was a game changer. The brisket was pretty straightforward, smoked with good flavor. The ribs were okay, but they were on the smaller side and a little dried out. The potato salad was good, and the mac and cheese was legit. Overall, I enjoyed the experience and would definitely recommend trying the enchiladas if you stop in.

Some of the best barbecue we've had in Michigan. Once you locate the entrance, the rest is easy. The menu options include sandwiches, sides and salads to accommodate your meal expectations. A number of sauce options are on the table including their own barbecue flavor. There is a full service bar, table seating with additional seating outdoors. Young children were present. Homemade lemonade was quite refreshing with a nice balance of tart and sweet. The meats were tender and filling. We ordered the spicy beans and were not disappointed. This location is a short walk from Central Station.

Loved this place. Recommended by a friend and he was spot on. Door is sort of hard to find but once we did we loved it. Our service was great. And they were busy too. Food all came out together and hot. Pork and chicken were perfect. Brisket was a tiny bit dry but seasoned wonderfully. A couple people weren’t a fan of the Mac n Cheese, but I enjoyed it. 9.25/10. Highly recommend
